You are into a game tied at 6, and your partner turns up the .  The first player passes.  You have the left, but the rest of your hand is pretty weak, so you have to pass.  The third player passes and your partner scoops it up, naming spades as trump.

The lead player comes out weak with a .  You play your , and the player sitting third groans and plays the .  Your King is good, and your partner throws off a club.

It's your lead.

What should you do?

Your best play is to come to your partner's strength with a trump lead.  Your partner named trump, so she is going to have some more.  She did not go alone, so chances are good she would dearly love to know where that Left Bower is.  Don't make her wait.  Play it now.  You will draw the trump out of your opponents' hands - always a good thing to do.  

Your partner is likely to underplay and allow you to take the trick.  However, she may want lead, so if she has the Right Bower, she may come over the top of you so that she has the lead and subsequent control of the hand.  This should not dismay you if she does this - the rest of your cards are junk!
